Albuquerque- Mayor Richard J. Berry has sent his recommendation to the City Council for a city-wide, third party independent organizational review and analysis. Through a competitive RFP process, the winning proposal for the review came from Matrix Consulting Group Ltd, a company that has conducted more than 50 organization-wide studies in other cities, including: Los Angeles, Spokane, Albany, Palo Alto, and others.
"The goal of hiring an independent third party expert to help us evaluate our current organizational structure is to identify innovative ways to optimize delivery of services and operate city government in the most efficient manner possible," said Mayor Berry. "If we can identify additional efficiencies, we can continue to lower the cost of government, while providing exceptional service to our citizens and providing additional opportunities for city employees."
Matrix Consulting Group will work with the administration and department directors to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of each department, and will provide actionable recommendations designed to create the most efficient government and service delivery systems possible. Past reports that Matrix Consulting has undertaken have evaluated issues such as duplication of services, centralization vs. decentralization, inefficient or expensive employee schedules, proper staffing needs, best practices and interdepartmental coordination.
Funding of up to $200 thousand for the contract will be provided through identified long term recurring savings and efficiencies.
"I am looking forward to what this experienced firm can provide to the City of Albuquerque," said Mayor Berry. "We owe it to the taxpayers to provide them with a City government that runs as efficiently as possible while providing great services."
