An Open Burning Ban is now in effect within the municipal areas of the city and Bernalillo County in public and private outdoor areas.
Extreme fire conditions exist throughout the Albuquerque Metro Area as evidenced by current and predicted fuel conditions, fire behavior, weather, and extreme drought, the ban will decrease the likelihood of human-caused fires in order to protect the public's health and safety and valuable natural resources.
Open Burning Ban
Open burning has been banned in public and private outdoor areas within the municipal boundaries of the City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County. Examples include but are not limited to:
- Open burning
- Recreational fires
- Use of model rockets
- Open flame devices
Burning may be done in an enclosed chamber devices such as cooking and outdoor grills.
