Unicorns and dragons join animals at Zoo for trick-or-treating.
October 15, 2013
Unicorns and dragons join the rest of the Zoo animals for the 25th Annual Zoo Boo on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. It’s the biggest party of the year at the ABQ BioPark and a great Halloween event for families. #ZooBoo25 is presented by the City of Albuquerque, Univision Radio, KISS 97.3 and title sponsor Credit World Superstore.
Zoo Boo activities are included with general admission and four children in costume get in free with one paying adult. There is free park and ride from the Aquarium/Garden to the Zoo from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“We’re excited to celebrate 25 years of Zoo Boo at this year’s event,” said Maryann Torrez, BioPark special events manager. “Kids and their parents enjoy getting to visit the animals and play games as they trick-or-treat in a safe setting. We do encourage everyone to use our free park-and-ride to avoid the traffic. It will make the day an even better experience for the whole family!”
Zoo Boo sponsor booths give out candy throughout the zoo. Activities also include Backyard Boo for the tots, a kids’ costume contest, a screaming contest, Haunted Habitats and lots of games. Jack-o-lanterns from the BioPark’s staff pumpkin carving contest will also be on display. A special thanks to all of our sponsors and partners, including Wal-Mart, courtesy of Kellogg’s, who are donating all the treats, and event Co-Sponsors Cricket Wireless, First Financial Credit Union, U Pull and Pay, and Reliable Automotive.
Zoo Boo wouldn’t be possible without tremendous support from volunteers. Community groups interested in helping run games and make crafts are encouraged to contact BioPark Education at 505-848-7172.
Since 1988, Zoo Boo has been a popular Halloween activity for the City of Albuquerque. Zoo Boo sponsors, local businesses and individual donors contribute thousands of dollars each year to the Zoo Boo Education Scholarship Fund, developed in memory of Dr. Shelly Lerner Burstein, a local pediatric cardiologist and zoo docent.
Additional Halloween season activities at the BioPark include the Creeping, Crawling and Carnivorous Show now through Nov. 4 at the Botanic Garden and underwater pumpkin carving on Oct. 31 at the Aquarium. For more information email firstname.lastname@example.org or dial 311 (505-768-2000).
